Achieving My Dreams

What is my most desired dream?
First of all, I must say that our dreams in life change as we grow. I remember,  when I was in sixth grade I used to draw, sketch, color and imagine myself being an architect or a painter. My parents, friends and classmates encouraged me to continue to draw things I see. But, when I was in college I worked part time at restaurants in the  Philippines as a cashier or service crew. I was a good observant, looking at managers that were checking around, made me think of becoming a restaurant manager someday. I thought it would be the best feeling to serve people and supervise employees. For four years, I just wished to be a restaurant manager. But, it never came true.

Things changed, when you finished school. I graduated with an education degree that my parents chose for me to do. At first, I didn't want to be a teacher. But, when I first taught I fell in love with teaching and helping children learn things that are new to them. I enjoyed teaching that I couldn't think of something else to do. I can teach, dance, color and laugh with my students. It was a great feeling.  Life became a challenge and yet enjoyable. Was I contented? Nope, I thought about getting married and finding my true love.

After three years of teaching, I met my husband. He is from Texas, USA. We fell in love and I moved from the Philippines to Texas and got married in 2007. I feel that I am slowly achieving my dreams. Was I happy? Yes and no. Yes, because I am with the person I love but no because I am so far away from my parents, siblings and friends. And, another NO because I'm used to teaching children using my own native language, I am familiar with the Philippine school system and lifestyle. I struggled a little when I started my life here, but I realized that I can do it. There's a reason why I'm here and I believe that I can continue to touch lives even If I am not at my hometown.

Six years have passed. Things evolve in my life drastically. Texas lifestyle, weather, language and food were too quick for me to grasp. But, I am not giving up. So, what is my desired dream in my world today? I spoke to myself, to do things positively, set my goals and always willing to learn more. I am now desiring my dream of  living my life with my husband, have one to two kids and continue to learn about America to help me move on with my career as a teacher someday.

How will I achieve that dream? I am positive that I can achieve that dream, that's why I'm here now at BLINN taking classes in order for me to grow.  Building fortitude and courage, always willing to learn and live my life to the fullest!

Dreaming of who you want to be someday is a great feeling. It helps you be motivated and inspired. It always put a smile on your face. But, it's always our life experiences that will change it. It is true that our experiences  are our best teachers. It teaches us to be strong and lead us to be contented of what we have. My past experiences helped me live my life in a simple way and continue to help others who needed my guidance.

How about you? What's your most desired dream and how did you achieve that dream?
